Know What’s Below. Call Before You Dig. It’s Free & It’s the Law.
Before starting any project involving digging or excavation, ensure you are aware of local, state, and federal regulations. According to the Code of Alabama, anyone digging, excavating, or blasting—including homeowners—must notify underground facility owners at least two business days before beginning work.
Note: The two business days do not include the day the notification request is made.
To notify Arab Electric Cooperative, you can:
- Call 811 from anywhere in Alabama
- Dial 800-292-8525 from outside the state
- Submit your request online through the Homeowner Locate Request Portal
When you contact 811, be prepared to provide details about your project and its location. This process ensures utility lines are properly marked, helping to prevent accidents and outages.
